Salary: £51,772 – £56,766+ (Depending on experience)

Your Role
We are excited to welcome two Product Safety Engineers to our team! In this role, you will:
* Support safety assessment and certification of complex aerospace systems throughout the engineering lifecycle.
* Evaluate aircraft and system design safety, producing and reviewing key safety artifacts like hazard analyses and safety assessments.
* Ensure compliance with airworthiness and regulatory requirements.
* Validate supplier documentation and support risk assessment and mitigation activities.
* Contribute to international working groups, shaping emerging standards in digital certification, AI, autonomy, sustainability, and product security.
Core Duties
* Deliver engineering activities using systems integration and engineering techniques.
* Maintain the integrity of Air products through design reviews and assurance evidence.
* Enhance Product Safety Engineering processes, promoting efficiency and competitiveness.
* Conduct audits and assurance activities, providing constructive feedback.
* Investigate and analyze root causes, advising on potential design changes.
* Share learning across BAE Systems and with customers and suppliers.
Essential Skills
* A degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent relevant engineering experience.
* Proven experience in a Safety Engineering role throughout the product lifecycle.
* Strong understanding of requirements engineering, configuration control, and safety engineering tools (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis, Goal Structured Notation).
* Experience in qualification and certification activities within Safety Critical Industries.
* Knowledge of Safety Engineering principles and applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., EASA, EMAR).
* Familiarity with Safety engineering standards (e.g., Def-Stan 00-56, IEC61508).
The Product Safety Team
Join our dedicated Product Safety Team within BAE Systems’ Air business! You’ll collaborate with a small, dynamic core team (around 4 members) and engage with a larger group of up to 20. Your contributions will impact high-profile projects, from next-generation fighter development to fleet capability upgrades and global customer support. Together, we’ll shape emerging standards in digital certification, AI, sustainability, and product security, providing critical safety expertise across the engineering lifecycle.
