About the role. In this busy and exciting role, you will assist the Group Tax Manager and Group Tax Director in managing the Group's UK tax compliance obligations and assist in advising the UK Group on UK tax initiatives. Working with Group Finance to ensure tax is appropriately accounted for across all UK entities - will be key. The successful candidate will lead on the collation of information and preparation of the UK Group's Corporation Tax computations and annual Research and Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) claims. Accountabilities. Assisting the Group Tax Manager in all aspects of tax accounting at year end and half year for Group and Subsidiary Statutory Reporting - Collaboration and liaison with Group Finance and Business Unit Finance teams Assisting the Group Tax Manager in the preparation of all aspects of the Group's UK corporation tax computations. Playing a key role in the tax pack preparation, collation, analysis and tax categorisation of accounting information for the purpose of inclusion within the corporation tax computations Technical research in connection with UK corporation tax treatment and advising the business of the tax implications of business decisions Developing and maintaining a process driven methodology for the collation of information in respect of the Group's UK RDEC claims. Supporting the delivery of business education and training to key stakeholder as necessary Preparation of the Group's UK RDEC claims, including collaboration and liaison with internal stakeholders to support the claims. Carry out detailed research in connection with RDEC matters as required Liaison with HMRC in connection with all corporate tax matters, including payments, tax allocations, group relief simplified arrangements, group payment arrangements etc Responding to ad-hoc queries from business units in connection with tax related issues e.g. capital allowances and other tax reliefs Work closely with Group Tax Manager and Group Tax Director to support tax risk mitigation and contribute towards strategic initiatives, and risk register management Assist the Group Tax Manager in delivering accessible and robust tax data and reporting to support completion of UK tax compliance obligations Building relationships across the business with key stakeholders, ensuring collaborative working relationships are managed and maintained About you. Ideally, you will have previous experience within a similar role and be a Qualified Accountant. Also, a Tax Adviser qualification (CTA or ATT or equivalent) would be advantageous. You will be highly skilled at applying tax technical knowledge to real world business situations, whilst building relationships and applying excellent stakeholder management. Excellent organisation, prioritisation, research and reasoning, verbal and written skills to explain tax issues concisely to non-tax colleagues - will be key. You will have a detailed knowledge of UK Corporate Tax compliance and Tax systems (e.g. AlphaTax desirable). Additional requirements: Experience of dealing with HMRC and similar stakeholders. Experience of preparing RDEC and capital allowances and similar claims Detailed tax accounting knowledge A can-do attitude with a passion to drive process improvement and effect change Compliance mindset with strong attention to detail and good awareness of tax risk management Industry experience/in-house tax department experience preferred Self-awareness - knows when to seek guidance from colleagues, line manager or external advisers Excellent Microsoft Office (particularly Excel skills) essential Experience in FMCG industry preferred - not essential What you'll receive.
