The Role and the Department The Department of Engineering seeks a Learning and Teaching Coordinator to cover a period of maternity leave. As Learning and Teaching Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering a professional and efficient administrative service as part of a collaborative team. You will manage a defined portfolio of tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of taught programmes and other departmental activities, while working closely with the Learning and Teaching Manager and Director of Taught Studies. This is a student-facing role that involves regular interaction with students to provide advice and support, as well as partnership working with academic staff to ensure high-quality programme delivery. You will work both independently and as part of the team, using your initiative to make day-to-day decisions and resolve issues effectively. As a dynamic individual who gets things done, you will bring energy and focus to delivering results. Flexibility and strong organisational skills are essential, as you will contribute to the team's success in meeting priorities. You will also liaise with other Professional Support Services across the University and demonstrate a commitment to service excellence. What you need to demonstrate when you apply/Person Specification When you apply it is important that you let us know what skills/experience you have from a similar role and/or what skills/experience you have which would make you right for this role. Your application should cover the following criteria: Essential Criteria Qualifications/Experience 1. Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience. 2. * Demonstrable relevant experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services to a high standard. 3. Experience of working effectively both as part of a team and independently, demonstrating adaptability and collaboration. 4. * Demonstrable experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality. 5. * Demonstrable experience of maintaining accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail. 6. Demonstrable experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues, in a front-line capacity. 7. Post-18 qualifications or equivalent experience. Skills/Abilities/Knowledge 8. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally. 9. * Evidence of a positive attitude to work and customer service. 10. Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including the internet, email, digital communication tools and Microsoft 365 applications. 11. * Ability to proactively solve problems yourself and as part of a team and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions. 12. Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information. 13. Strong planning skills with the ability to organise and prioritise work effectively over an annual cycle of activities. 14. Committed to continuing professional development. Desirable Criteria 15. Experience of working in Higher Education, or a comparable environment. 16. Familiarity with student record systems. 17. Experience of organising programmes of events and monitoring attendance, particularly under the UKVI guidelines. 18. Experience of developing and maintaining databases. 19. Experience of using Syllabus Plus for timetabling activities. MATERNITY COVER Appointment to this post is fixed term to cover the substantive post holder'smaternity leave and is not anticipated to be extended. The post is full time for an 11-12 month period and may be offered on an internal secondment basis subject to the agreement of the current line manager.
