Unique to Mondelez International, Ernest Jackson has a locally‑managed Research and Development function whose goal is to develop the right healthcare products to meet the needs of the consumer and enable a competitive edge for the business.
This role is responsible for driving the scientific exploration, development, and realization of novel products, processes, and technologies. It leverages deep scientific expertise and innovative thinking to translate strategic business objectives and consumer insights into commercially viable solutions. By leading advanced R&D initiatives, fostering cross‑functional collaboration, and applying rigorous scientific methodologies, this position plays a critical role in expanding our innovation pipeline and delivering future growth opportunities.
The position will provide R&D technical leadership to the business and will provide mentorship and training to junior members of the team.
How You Will Contribute
Lead Innovation & Concept Development
As the senior innovation scientist, this role is expected to:
* Initiate, design and lead R&D concept ideation through proof of concept with a focus on novel ingredients.
* Translate consumer insights, market trends and business strategies into scientific approaches and product solutions.
* Proactively identify and explore emerging scientific advances/technologies relevant to strategic growth.
Technical Leadership
The role develops strong relationships within the function and cross‑functionally. Acts as a technological resource or expert in its own technical/scientific area. Leads RCA’s and issue resolution. Role‑models a positive and proactive approach to change within the business.
Training, Coaching and Mentorship
As a senior member of R&D, this role will help build R&D capability through training, coaching and mentoring others, including development of technical expertise and compliance/HSE/regulatory standards and practices.

As a senior member of an efficient development team you will be expected to:

* Coach others in delivering clear and impactful communication.
Continuous Development and Knowledge
Stay current with key nutritional and licensed medicine landscape themes. Discuss development needs and opportunities with the line manager to maintain relevant knowledge and capabilities.

What You Will Bring
* Advanced degree and relevant experience – a Master’s in a relevant scientific discipline with several years of progressive innovation experience within a relevant industry.
* Product Development experience: delivering product developments from concept to marketplace, meeting supply‑chain requirements.
* Proven innovation leadership – leading and successfully delivering projects from ideation to commercial readiness.
* Technical skills and knowledge, a continuous learning mindset and application of statistical analysis to datasets.
* Project Management process knowledge.
* Process development experience, including new or improved processes, equipment trials and scale‑up challenges (preferred).
* Good working knowledge of food and pharmaceutical regulatory environments.
