The role will be to support Referral Services, working with a range of clients, children and families and adults/older adults. You will be expected to support clients or groups to enable them to take part in physical activity appropriate to their interests to make moving more part of everyday life.
We’re looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual with a knowledge and understanding of the factors that affect health choices particularly related to, physical activity including sport, food and nutrition, and mental wellbeing. An awareness and understanding of health inequalities and behaviour change techniques would be advantageous although opportunities for training and development will be available.
We are looking for engaging candidates with good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills capable of working with members of the public, volunteers, partner organisations and as part of our team. The work is flexible to meet local needs, includes team work and opportunities to work on individual projects, so a degree of self-motivation is needed along with a willingness to support other work areas within Wellbeing Services. There will also be a requirement to work some evenings and weekends. The team works across Wakefield district, so it is essential staff are able to travel around independently and are willing to participate in and lead health and wellbeing activities in a range of venues including outdoor settings.
Project planning, implementation and evaluation are a key function of our work, including producing project plans, delivering activity to a range of audiences and presenting findings through reports, briefings and presentations. This includes complying with all relevant procedures such as those related to health and safety and data protection. Therefore, a sound basic level of education is required along with an ability to use MS office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
