Utilities Manager / Environmental Advisor

Applicants should have …
A BSc, HND or equivalent qualification in Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography or similar; good interpersonal skills; the ability to work on own initiative; organisational and report writing skills; and Microsoft Excel and Word skills. Previous experience in environmental/protected species-surveys is desirable, alongside bird, mammal and plant species ID and GIS skills.
Key duties will include, but are not limited to: preparation of site-specific contract documentation, such as Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) packs, Forestry Environmental Management Plans (FEMPs) and site planning and operational maps to client satisfaction; supervision of forestry works associated with powerlines or railway infrastructure to ensure compliance with health and safety and environmental best practice and legislation; carrying out basic site set-up and giving pre-start briefs to site teams; and carrying out pre-operational environmental/ecological surveys, e.g., for protected species.
Candidates must have a current driving licence. Please note that travel and staying away is a regular part of the role, which covers all of Scotland. Additionally, as per any ecology role, working hours may at times include early mornings and late nights. Task assignments may differ week to week to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
