Dementia Cafe Companions for Veterans at Erskine Edinburgh Care Home Gilmerton
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by dementia? Erskine Care Home in Gilmerton, Edinburgh, is looking for compassionate individuals with an interest in dementia to join our team as Volunteer Companions for our Dementia Café.

Erskine is committed to providing specialised care, and we are seeking volunteers to support our Dementia Café, creating a warm and supportive environment for both residents and their families.

Your Role as a Volunteer Companion:
As a Volunteer Companion for the Dementia Café, you will be a source of comfort and companionship for residents and their families. Your presence and support on Saturdays, once a month or every two months, will contribute to the well-being and joy of those living with dementia.
Experience Required
1. Individuals with a genuine interest in dementia care.
2. Compassion and empathy for individuals living with dementia and their families.
3. Availability on Saturdays, with a commitment to volunteering once a month or every two months.
Volunteers travel independently to Erskine Edinburgh (out of pocket travel expenses are available).
Travel Expenses
Bus and train fares and mileage costs up to £15 daily maximum.
Support
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
Frequency & Commitment
Weekly 45 mins to 2 hours.
