Closing Date: Actual closing date 08 April 2026 at 12 noon Interviews: 15 and 16 April 2026 St Andrew’s Benn is a welcoming, inclusive Church of England primary school at the heart of its community. Strong relationships with families are central to our ethos, and our core values are founded on the concept of “family” — ensuring that every child and every family feels known, supported and valued. We are seeking an exceptional Headteacher who will embrace this vision and lead our school with compassion, ambition and clarity of purpose. About Our School St Andrew’s Benn was judged highly for inclusion and safeguarding in our 2026 Ofsted inspection (report to be published). Inclusion is a defining strength of our school. Up to 40% of pupils in some cohorts have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Approximately 70% of pupils speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) The school experiences significant pupil mobility due to its location within Rugby We have built a strong local reputation for our SEND provision, resulting in higher levels of need than typically found in neighbouring schools — a trend expected to continue. We also host a specialist resource provision for pupils with Global Developmental Delay from Reception to Year 2, currently supporting eight children. Our curriculum is designed around “Big Questions” to promote deep understanding and engagement. This is underpinned by our “Big 6” teaching principles: Oracy Progress for All Retrieval Active Engagement Feedback Modelling We are supported by a highly dedicated, stable and experienced staff team who know the pupils and community exceptionally well. Staff morale is strong, and there is a shared commitment to continuous improvement. Our active and knowledgeable Governing Body works in close partnership with leaders to provide both support and appropriate challenge. The Role We are looking for a Headteacher who will: Further embed our curriculum and pedagogical approach Ensure consistency, high expectations and strong outcomes for all pupils Lead inclusive practice within a mainstream setting with complex levels of need Confidently guide the school into its next phase of development The Successful Candidate Will: Demonstrate proven senior leadership experience with a clear commitment to inclusion Have a strong track record of improving outcomes for all pupils, particularly those with additional needs Inspire, support and develop staff at all levels Value strong partnerships with families, governors and the wider community Provide strategic vision alongside effective day-to-day leadership Champion safeguarding and the wellbeing of pupils and staff This is an exciting opportunity to lead a school where inclusion is not an add-on, but the foundation of everything we do. Prospective candidates who feel inspired by this opportunity are strongly encouraged to apply. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
