The SEN Teacher Role

We are seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Hackney specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
* In this rewarding SEN Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student.
* Your expertise as an SEN Teacher will help develop individualised learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills.
The School
The successful SEN Teacher applicant would be joining a small but outstanding SEN school in Hackney for children with ASD and SLD needs. This is an OfSTED rated outstanding special school for pupils aged 2-11 years, housed in a purpose-built new building in the heart of Hackney. The school offers a range of unique indoor and outdoor environments designed to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupils' specific needs.
SEN Teacher Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement personalised educational programs.
2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.
3. Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
4. Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as necessary.
5. Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.
SEN Teacher Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD.
* Experience working in a primary education setting is preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
