About the Water Utilities Division
The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. It provides a variety of services throughout the full project life‑cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to outline and detailed design, ensuring safe water supplies, preventing urban flooding and improving the health of rivers and coastal environments.
Role Overview
As Project Technical Lead you will manage the technical delivery of clean‑water projects and programmes, coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams. You will build on existing frameworks, work with technical discipline leads to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard. The role involves close client engagement and is a customer‑facing position that will evolve in line with framework requirements and your own development.
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution
* Understanding of conventional and innovative water treatment technologies
* Track record of engineering technical coordination
* Experience in development and delivery of feasibility and outline design solutions within the UK water sector
* Ability to support bids, fee proposals or offers of service
* Ability to check and review technical deliverables, calculations and reports
* Strong communication skills with experience in effective collaboration across internal multi‑disciplinary teams and client teams
* Desire to take a leading role with client engagement
Desirable
* Track record of developing junior staff
* Understanding of key water sector treatment and sustainability needs
* Understanding of drivers for treatment investment in England and Wales
* Excellent technical report writing skills using concise English
