The Teaching Assistant Role
You may support pupils with a variety of Additional Learning Needs and Special Educational Needs, including:
17. Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
18. Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
19. Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
20. Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
21. Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
22. Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
23. Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
As a Teaching Assistant in Newport, your responsibilities may include:
24. Providing one-to-one support and small-group interventions
25. Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
26. Supporting pupils to access learning and remain engaged throughout the school day
27. Adapting resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
28. Supporting communication, social development and emotional wellbeing
29. Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging independence
30. Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers
31. Working collaboratively within specialist education settings
32. Supporting personal care where required
