About the Role:
This is a combined role pivotal to the engineering department and the wider company.
The Mechanical Trade Manager is responsible to the Base Maintenance Manager for ensuring the quality and high standard of work produced by the engineering support staff within the mechanical trade boundaries.
They are also responsible for investigating issues from the mechanical team with OEM/TCH support, working closely with CAMO and recommending further action.
They will act as the mechanical subject matter expert where required by other parts of the company.
The Deputy Base Maintenance Manager, also responsible to the Base Maintenance Manager will ensure compliance within the facility in accordance with Pt‑145 regulations.
They will perform occurrence investigations, address compliance findings and conduct the day to day running of the maintenance facility at Gamston and act as the Base Maintenance Manager covering both UK and European sites in their absence.
About You:
The successful candidate will be an experienced aircraft engineer having worked in aviation engineering management, familiar with CAA/EASA Pt‑145 rules and regulations and able to meet the criteria to hold a nominated person role in accordance with AMC 145.A.30(c).
They will be able to advise on and investigate technical queries from certifying support staff seeing any mechanical related issues through to resolution.
A solid understanding of Maintenance Organisation Expositions is required and a demonstrable ability to uphold and delegate the functions within ensuring compliance throughout.
Leadership and decision making along with a keen eye for safety and compliance are key to this role and the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate this throughout the application process.
What you'll be doing:
* Reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager, as part of the maintenance management team along with the Avionics & Systems Trade Manager.
* Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role.
* Ensure compliance to Pt‑145 regulations.
What we expect from you:
* Performance indicators – Ensure the effective provision of Part 145 activities by meeting delivery targets and reporting any impact on Continuing Airworthiness. Understand how individual actions contribute to overall delivery performance.
* Completion of activities – Ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Compile required reporting, identify any issues and escalate as appropriate.
* Procedure/standards – Comply with the MOE, its associated procedures and standards and any other Company procedures and standards, as applicable. Identify and propose changes, as required.
* Safety Management System – Ensure Human Factors and Error Management philosophies are applied to all Part 145 activities. Understand the risks associated with Part 145 and the means by which they are mitigated and managed.
* Management System Assurance – Ensure Part 145 activities are compliant with the Aviation Safety and Compliance Manual, including supporting Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits. Support the implementation of identified improvements to overcome any non‑compliance and monitor effectiveness.
* Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory framework. Support the implementation of any Regulatory‑driven changes into the Part 145 activities.
* Contractual Requirements – Ensure compliance with applicable contractual requirements.
What you must have:
* A relevant Engineering Degree or a CAA/EASA Pt66 B1 License with at least 1 type
* 5+ years’ experience on aircraft in a civilian base or line maintenance environment
What we'd like you to have:
* KingAir 90/200/300 and/or Diamond DA42/62 type ratings.
* Experience with aircraft pre‑buys and surveys
