Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and forward-thinking Band 7 Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our Paediatric team.
The post holder will work as an integral and active part of the Paediatric Physiotherapy and Sleep & Ventilation team in the provision of a patient-centred In-patient, out-patient and community service. The service supports a caseload of patients with Neuromuscular condition, Long term ventilation and other complex respiratory conditions.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will work alongside some of the top cardio-respiratory specialist health care practitioners in the UK and Europe. You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Physiologists and Respiratory Medical team) both in acute care and community settings. Teamwork and excellent communication skills are vital to the role,.
You will contribute to the maintenance and development of the Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy Services, with particular focus on Sleep and Ventilation. You will work closely with the wider Paediatric multidisciplinary team both at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Evelina Hospital sites.

Job responsibilities
To be responsible in a team leader role alongside the clinical lead in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy service provided in particular to children with Neuromusuclar conditions or Long Term Ventilation requirements at Royal Brompton on a day to day basis.
Manage a caseload of patients with highly complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Provide this service with a caseload of complex cases as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating high-level problem solving and clinical reasoning skills, and independence in judgement.
Provision of education and training to families, carers and the MDT is an integral part of this role.
To use validated and appropriate outcome measures and set individualised patient goals.
To support the clinical leads in providing leadership for senior and junior staff, through regular supervision and annual appraisal. To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Paediatric Physiotherapy Service. To work closely with the acute physiotherapy team at Evelina hospital site to develop 1 service across 2 sites.
To work with colleagues to ensure the continuing professional development and overall performance of physiotherapy staff in paediatrics and as a potential member of a range of Trust quality/process improvement project groups.
Supervise, educate and assess the performance of junior physiotherapy staff to ensure theoretical and clinical knowledge meets departmental standards. Additionally to supervise, educate and assess the performance of Physiotherapy students.
Due to the strong commitment to evidence-based practice throughout the Trust, CPD and study leave will be well supported, and involvement in audit, research and policy development is encouraged and facilitated.
Responsible for maintaining and improving all aspects of clinical governance, evidence-based practice and quality assurance in designated area.

Essential
1. Equivalent or equal to a degree in Physiotherapy
2. Health and Care Professional council registration

Experience and Knowledge
Essential
7. Considerable post graduate experience
8. Significant cardiorespiratory/cardiothoracic experience.
9. Significant paediatric respiratory experience.
10. Evidence of CPD
11. Understanding of cardiorespiratory physiology and pathophysiology specific to post

12. Relevant validated clinical courses accredited as equivalent to masters level
