The Service Engineer will deliver the highest standard of after‑sales support to our customers and partners by combining strong technical expertise with excellent customer service skills. They will collaborate closely with our design engineers, quality engineers, and field services administration team to help achieve the business objectives of both the company and its customers.
This newly created hybrid role involves producing high‑pressure fluid builds at our Manchester facility, as well as supporting maintenance contracts for customers across the UK. Occasional overseas travel and support may also be required.
Key Accountabilities
Production Support
* Assemble positive displacement pumping systems in line with customer requirements.
* Assemble fluid and gas systems to fulfil customer orders.
* Assist in the ongoing development of work instructions and standard operating procedures.
* Proactively communicate and collaborate with team members across departments to ensure excellent customer service and the achievement of business objectives.
* Support the engineering team with new product development, including build and testing activities.
* Install, commission, repair, overhaul, and service company products, ensuring work quality meets or exceeds agreed standards.
* Produce detailed strip‑down reports to support the preparation of customer repair quotations.
* Assist in preparing site risk assessments and method statements.
* Deliver exceptional customer service by understanding individual customer needs and providing proactive, efficient, and effective support.
* Maintain full awareness of and adherence to safe working practices in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
* Provide sales support assistance as required.
Technical Knowledge
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the company’s product range to promote alternative equipment or services where appropriate and to identify additional onsite opportunities.
* Produce clear internal reports relating to product failures and onsite work carried out.
* Collaborate with the technical team to conduct onsite evaluations for maintenance or service contracts.
* Actively develop skills and technical knowledge through on‑the‑job and off‑the‑job training.
* Adhere to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards at all times.
* Complete accurate, concise onsite work reports and ensure all associated documentation is completed correctly and on time.
* Identify opportunities to improve products, services, or working practices.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role you should bring…
Education & Experience
* GCSE qualifications (A–C), A Levels, or an Apprenticeship qualification/HNC.
* Substantial relevant work experience in a similar field.
* Proven site experience and prior experience working in heavy industry.
* A clean driving licence is essential.
Technical Skills
* Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering.
* Good knowledge of reciprocating pumps and controls (preferred).
* Ability to write clear, accurate, and legible reports and paperwork.
* PC literate in Microsoft Suite.
Soft Skills
* Ability to work with minimal supervision in the field.
* Self‑motivated with a commitment to high standards of quality and efficiency.
* Proactive and flexible attitude.
