Hays is working with a global manufacturer to recruit a Buyer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This organisation plays a key role in supporting scientific advancements across healthcare, energy, and space research.
Your new role
* Execute daily procurement tasks and manage supplier relationships
* Handle manual spreadsheet work and support ERP system transition
* Ensure timely delivery of goods and services for production
* Negotiate pricing and maintain accurate cost data
* Collaborate with internal departments and attend project meetings
* Support stock control and participate in annual stocktake
* What you'll need to succeed

* Recent experience in a purchasing role (within the last 3 years)
* Strong Excel skills and ability to manage manual systems
* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
* GCSEs including English & Maths (or equivalent)
* Desirable: Experience in manufacturing, working towards CIPS
What you'll get in return
* Full-time onsite for first 6 months (start time before 8:30am)
* Flexible finish times (Mon-Thurs from 4:30pm, Fri from 1pm)
