Salary: up to £65,000 per annum
Study Group will deliver a selection of post-graduate and undergraduate courses for the University of Huddersfield (UoH) at its new Business School in London. Several pathway programmes designed to progress to these courses will also be offered. The campus aims to attract a diverse international student body seeking high-quality teaching and strong employability options in London.
The Principal Lecturer will lead a teaching team within the Business School, providing academic leadership for the delivery of UoH’s taught courses and Study Group’s pathway courses. Responsibilities include implementing quality assurance procedures, monitoring compliance with academic regulations, managing teaching allocations, promoting scholarly activity, and ensuring excellent student outcomes and experiences. The role also involves liaising with UoH representatives on academic and quality matters.
About the Role
* Provide inspirational leadership across academic teams, collaborating with campus management, UoH, and Study Group teams on learning and teaching strategies.
* Implement continuous improvements to meet targets for student outcomes and progression.
* Plan curriculum and staffing requirements.
* Contribute to meetings, forums, and projects within the Study Group network.
* Participate in university partnership boards and committees, reporting on performance and strategy.
* Review student feedback and stakeholder input to identify development opportunities.
* Lead and manage academic staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining high standards.
* Recruit qualified academic staff to meet accreditation standards.
* Allocate teaching resources within budget, organize peer observations, and develop personal development plans.
* Promote business engagement and embed employability activities in curricula.
* Support scholarly activity and research, liaising with UoH on projects.
* Ensure effective delivery of courses aligned with validation documents and quality frameworks.
* Identify opportunities for new courses and collaborate with stakeholders to develop them.
* Address academic issues promptly and monitor academic indicators for timely interventions.
* Represent Study Group and UoH at recruitment and promotional activities.
* Implement quality assurance procedures, manage assessment integrity, and handle academic misconduct cases.
* Participate in course approval and re-approval processes, and maintain effective relationships with UoH contacts.
* Facilitate interaction between UoH staff and campus academics for optimal learner experience.
* Identify opportunities for collaboration with UoH main campus.
* Undertake additional duties as required by senior management.
About You
* Honours degree (or equivalent) and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
* Fellowship of Advance HE or commitment to achieve within 12 months.
* Proven success in course leadership and management in higher education.
* Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks, OFS, and UKVI regulations.
* Strategic planning and data analysis skills.
* Inclusive leadership style managing diverse academic teams.
* Experience in a business school setting, with undergraduate and postgraduate education.
* Experience in curriculum design, delivery, and supervision of research students.
