Experienced Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support (Primary) Location: Stockport (SK7) Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term Pay: £92.59 - £110.24 per day About the Role Monarch Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Stockport (SK7) area to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) support. This is a full-time role starting in September 2026, supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance to engage successfully in the classroom. The position is offered on a fixed-term basis, with a strong potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs Support pupils in managing behaviour, emotions and social interactions Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement Implement behaviour support strategies and interventions Help create a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals Requirements Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within a primary setting Proven experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience A patient, empathetic and proactive approach Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) desirable How to Apply If you're a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant ready to make a real difference in children's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
