Full-Time £26,530 - £29,114 per annum | pro rata Expires: 20/07/2025 Band 4 Fixed term: 1 year (can be offered as a secondment opportunity) Job overview We are recruiting for a part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our North Oxfordshire Adult Learning Disability team. We are a specialist service supporting adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire, to maintain good mental and physical health when their needs cannot be met by other health services. You'll be working with the friendly and supportive OT team as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team. We are seeking someone who is interested working with people with learning disabilities and keen to learn and develop in the role. You'll be conducting routine interventions and assessments under supervision from an OT during client home visits, as well as providing administrative support to the Adult Learning Disability Team. You'll need a full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for this role as travel will be required to client homes across Oxfordshire. Main duties of the job * Independently plan and carry out routine occupational therapy intervention and basic assessments with clients under direct supervision from OTs. * Evaluate OT interventions delegated by the OT * Provide administrative support to the occupational therapy team with the development of occupational therapy resources, and preparation of materials for intervention. * The post holder will work under the supervision of OTs, as a member of the Adult Learning Disability team to: * Support the occupational therapy team with the facilitation of therapeutic groups. * Support the occupational therapy team with training sessions at local day centres and with care provider teams. * To be an active member of the adult learning disability team, recording and updating clinical records and sharing information with the multidisciplinary team Please refer to the job description attached for a comprehensive list of duties. Person specification Knowledge Essential criteria * Relevant practical work experience related to the clinical area e.g. learning disability, mental health, physical health, community work, complex needs. Desirable criteria * Knowledge of occupational therapy work with people with learning disabilities. * Knowledge related health conditions e.g. autism, mental health, dementia. Qualifications and experience Essential criteria * Relevant NVQ/ B tech/ A levels and relevant work experience OR significant prior experience in a health or education setting Desirable criteria * Additional relevant training related to the clinical area. Job related skills Essential criteria * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Good IT skills i.e. able to use Microsoft word, powerpoint, excel and outlook. * Able to identify own strengths and needs. * Able to identify when to seek support. * Ability to respond flexibly to demands of workplace. * Able to organise workload and manage time. Desirable criteria * Awareness of standards of record keeping. * Ability to reflect on practice. * Ability to support people with behaviours of concern. Personal qualities Essential criteria * Enthusiastic and flexible attitude towards work. * Able to work well as part of a team. * Able to manage emotional consequences of working with clients with a range of complex needs. * Willingness to learn and develop. Contractual requirements Essential criteria * Car driver. Able and willing to travel to visits, meetings and training as required
