Role Overview
As a Youth Justice Worker you will support children in their transition to a pro‑social identity, preventing re‑offending and safeguarding children, victims and the community. You will supervise a mixed caseload of up to 15 children, complete assessments and reports, deliver tailored interventions and serve as Court and Duty Officer.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise a mixed caseload of up to 15 children, including statutory, diversion, prevention and victim‑support cases.
* Complete timely assessments and reports, including Pre‑Sentence Reports, Referral Orders and Out‑of‑Court Resolution Screening reports.
* Co‑produce effective, tailored intervention plans with children and deliver interventions using child‑first, relational and trauma‑responsive approaches.
* Keep accurate and timely records for each case, ensuring compliance with youth criminal justice legislation, the Victims’ Code and Youth Justice Board guidance.
* Act as Appropriate Adult in PACE interviews, conduct Return Home Interviews and serve as Court and Duty Officer when required.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience working with children in a criminal justice setting or children’s social care.
* Experience supporting children at risk of or victims of exploitation and serious violence.
* Analytical skills to assess contexts and facets presented by each child and family.
* Strong report‑writing abilities for a variety of audiences.
* Capability to work in a high‑paced environment, manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent time‑management and prioritisation skills, and ability to support colleagues in meeting deadlines.
