Introduction / The role A friendly Epsom primary requires a creative Year 1 Teacher to start in January 2026. The Year 1 Teacher will take part in pre-term planning before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and will be teaching from January 2026. Core responsibilities The Year 1 Teacher will deliver systematic phonics as the Year 1 Teacher, lead guided reading as the Year 1 Teacher, and plan sequenced writing as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will design practical maths activities as the Year 1 Teacher, assess learning and run small-group interventions as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will prepare transition packs and reports ahead of assessments scheduled after January 2026. Essential criteria We seek a Year 1 Teacher with QTS/PGCE (or equivalent), sound KS1 expertise and confident behaviour management. The Year 1 Teacher must be ready to complete planning before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and begin teaching from January 2026. Experience of phonics, early writing and parental partnership is highly valued for the Year 1 Teacher.
