The Chief Engineer / Temporary Works Coordinator role
The Temporary Work Coordinator (TWC) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of temporary works on construction projects. This includes design coordination, compliance, programming, and assurance. The TWC acts as the key liaison between temporary works designers and site teams, ensuring safe and compliant implementation.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate all temporary works activities and maintain the Temporary Works Register.
* Ensure design briefs are accurate and align with site requirements.
* Oversee design checks, approvals, and issue permits to load/dismantle.
* Supervise erection, use, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary works.
* Implement and monitor change control processes.
* Conduct inspections, audits, and ensure proper maintenance.
* Review and approve contractor or in-house designs.
* Manage interfaces across production and subcontractor teams.
Your Profile
* Holds a valid TWC CITB Certification (or equivalent) and CSCS card.
* Degree or equivalent experience in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Proven experience in temporary works on large infrastructure/construction projects.
* Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Full driving licence.
