Offer description

The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient and high standard of clerical service within Maternity; to ensure that a welcoming and professional service is provided to patients; to ensure the smooth running of admin & clerical processes within the Maternity service. This role is to provide admin support to multiple community midwifery teams.

Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.


Responsibilities:

* Booking, rescheduling & cancelling appointments using the EPR system
* Maintaining databases
* Answering phone calls, taking messages accurately & dealing with them in a timely fashion
* Providing a compassionate service to our patients
* Dealing with e-mails
* Maintaining patient records
* Using ScanIt to move records, letters etc in to a digital format
* Liaising with clinical staff
* Reporting IT issues
* Reporting issues with equipment & estates
* Reception duties
* Learning & understanding patient pathways


Requirements:

* Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Email and Word
* Working knowledge of a wide range of relevant hospital systems; Viewpoint, Badgernet, EPR, Scanit and Attend Anywhere
* Use of and ability to manipulate Excel at basic level
* Knowledge of the Trusts Policies and Procedures
* Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection (including HFEA if required)
* GCSE maths & English, NVQ 3 or above or equivalent NHS experience
* Experience of working in the NHS or similar organisation
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary or busy team environment
* Experience of working under pressure
* Experience of working to protocols and procedures
* Experience of talking to patients/service users
* Experience of staff scheduling to cover needs of the service
* Excellent customer care skills to support a positive patient experience
* Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills that can be applied with confidence to communicate with colleagues, patients and their families or carers
* Ability to work with minimal supervision in own role
* Time and task management skills in order to respond to the demands of the post
* Meticulous attention to detail
* Excellent IT skills
