As the LDES team grows, we are looking for a new team manager to work alongside the existing Head of LDES Policy. This role would have overall responsibility for delivery and coordination across the whole LDES programme. In practice there will need to be close collaboration between the two team heads to ensure overall outputs and delivery are aligned.
Expected specific areas of focus:
* Working across all policy areas of the programme to identify potential gaps or inconsistencies, developing solutions to any problems identified, and supporting workstream leads on specific policy areas as required
* Overall programme governance and reporting, including developing relevant materials for e.g. GEMA and making sure decisions are made in accordance with Ofgem’s delegations framework.
* Ensuring all relevant decision-making process run effectively and efficiently, balancing input from a range of different sources to enable effective decision making. This role will also lead the process for decision making around Project Assessment for LDES window one, working closely with the Head of LDES Policy.
* Managing a diverse and large pool of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring programme dependencies are effectively managed and reflected in the team’s work priorities. This will require managing a number of difficult conversations with stakeholders to be managed alongside the DD and head of LDES policy.
* Sharing responsibility for line management of team members with the head of LDES policy, including setting objectives etc.
* Ensuring Ofgem’s priorities are reflected in the team’s work and priorities on an ongoing basis.

Setting up and leading high-performing team based on effective resource management, ongoing support and professional development.
* Manages effective and inclusive team resourcing and staff onboarding through close engagement with relevant Deputy Director, Workstream Managers, Heads of Professions, and HR Staffers to ensure best talent match to work needs.
* Helps team members deliver by building supportive, inclusive team environment based on trust-based relationships, transparency and inclusivity.
* Takes ownership for own and team members professional development by:
* Providing ongoing coaching and identification of development opportunities in regular performance conversations
* Supporting team members performance evaluation through honest, fair, high quality 360 degree feedback to PDLs.

Person specification

* Proven track record of effective collaboration across diverse teams and professional backgrounds (Lead)
* Demonstrated expertise in professional specialism, evidenced by a strong track record of high performance and significant achievements in previous roles.
* Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects and programmes effectively.
* Strong interpersonal, leadership, and people management skills, with experience directing resources across all levels.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with senior internal and external stakeholders.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to identify connections across organisational workstreams and develop coherent policies and cross-cutting messages.
* In-depth understanding of electricity storage, project financing, and/or large-scale procurement, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities that deliver better outcomes for consumers.
