Salary Range: $90,000-$130,000 USD per year

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a team member on site as Fluid Dynamicist supporting Acoustics Technology Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, West Bethesda. Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Research and study high Reynolds number, impressible flow field that leads to generation of underwater sound
* Research CFD modeling on large and detached eddy simulations of external flow turbulent boundary layers and internal flows with complex geometries
* Investigate and develop unsteady fluid structure interaction and multi-phase flow simulation
* Collaborate with physical experiments performed at wind/water tunnels and scaled ship prototypes to validate numerical hydroacoustics models
* Produce technical documents and reports.
Education & Experience Requirements
* Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Physics
* PhD degree preferred
* 3-5 years of research experience desired
* Job experience in the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus.
Skills & Abilities Requirements
* Understanding of high Reynolds number turbulent flows and fluid structure interaction
* Knowledge of CFD modeling and simulation tools and process
* Knowledge of acoustics measurement system
* Knowledge of advanced signal processing
* Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
* Able to travel to naval research and development facilities.
Other Requirements
Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
