As an Independent Nuclear Assurance Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our nuclear operations. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Conducting independent inspections and surveillance of nuclear work across facilities, equipment, and support services, both on-site and on-board.
* Evaluating nuclear and radiological safety performance to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Supervising inspections to advance submarine builds and projects through the ‘Hold Point Control’ process.
* Communicating inspection findings to stakeholders at all levels, including external regulators and senior management.
* Supporting independent assessments of emergency arrangements and providing constructive feedback.
* Challenging safety and security committees to ensure processes are followed and nuclear safety is upheld.
* Developing Assurance Plans aligned with key business projects.
* Overseeing Independent Peer Reviews of safety documentation.
Your Skills and Experiences
Essential:
* Experience in a Nuclear or Highly Regulated Environment or in a Quality/Safety role.
* Ability to tackle challenges and provide influential solutions.
* Self-motivated, organized, and methodical in your approach.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
* Experience in auditing inspections.
* Knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and security regulations.
* Experience in submarine build, testing, and commissioning.
* A degree or equivalent in a STEM subject.

About the Independent Nuclear Assurance Team
As part of our Independent Nuclear Assurance team, you will work alongside regulatory inspectors reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. This team acts as the internal regulator for our Submarines business, providing an evidence-based view of nuclear and radiological safety and security performance.
With a comprehensive inspection program, you will have the opportunity to influence safety at every level of the business. One day you might be inspecting a facility, and the next, you could be interviewing a director about a specific requirement. We also offer relocation support packages for eligible candidates.
