Overview
We are the Environment Agency seeking a Commercial Services Manager to support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice, and develop long-term collaborative partnerships to deliver value for money and positive outcomes for people, communities and the environment.
Team
You will be an integrated part of the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management (CAFM) team, part of Portfolio Management, Assurance & Commercial (PMAC), supporting our Programme and Contract Management Service to create a better place and resilient communities through excellent commercial risk management. You will work with national and local delivery teams to ensure sustainable delivery outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long-term collaborative partnership arrangements that deliver value for both the Agency and society.
* Provide country-wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community, promoting effective governance and commercial assurance.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build excellent relationships and demonstrate value for money.
* Undertake required training and participate in incident response duties as part of Environment Agency responsibilities.
Experience / Skills Required
* A-Level qualifications, Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing abilities; stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills; commercial acumen to understand and analyse business situations and deliver value for money.
* Administration skills including organisation, minute taking and drafting reports.
* Willingness to shadow and undertake long-term professional qualifications (e.g., NEC training, CIPS) and ask questions to drive development.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience; working towards status with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, or RICS).
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
