Construction Supervisor
Contract: Cheshire East Highways
Location: Crewe
Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking a proactive and organised Construction Supervisor to join our Construction Team in Cheshire. You will play a key role in delivering a wide range of highways capital works, ensuring programmes are safely, efficiently and professionally completed. This is an excellent opportunity to oversee impactful improvement projects across the local highways network.
The Role
1. Supervise allocated schemes within the annual programme of works
2. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
3. Monitor compliance with Health and Safety Regulations and CDM requirements
4. Review risk assessments, method statements and COSHH documentation for all schemes
5. Carry out site inductions and issue permits to work
Promote Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Procedures at all times
6. Coordinate and integrate resources, including internal staff and external contractors
7. Ensure supply chain partners meet agreed standards
8. Produce weekly progress reports and maintain daily site diaries
9. Supervise occasional out of hours works including night or weekend shifts
10. Undertake additional duties as required to fulfil the role
About You
11. NRSWA Supervisor, SSSTS, SMSTS, CSCS Supervisor, Temporary Works Supervisor or First Aid at Work
12. Experience in the construction industry, ideally within highways
13. Experience working near underground services (preferred)
Experience with traffic management or supervision of traffic management (preferred)
14. Full, valid driving licence
15. Strong IT, written and verbal communication skills
16. Ability to provide effective solutions that balance quality and cost
17. Logical, systematic approach to work with high attention to detail
18. Professional and composed manner, especially when resolving challenges
19. Flexible and adaptable approach, able to respond to changing circumstances
20. Ability to remain calm and non-confrontational in conflict situations while maintaining standards and timescales
