£25-£30 per hour | Flexible weekday hours | Home or local library-based sessions
If you're looking for a meaningful way to stay in education without the intensity of classroom life, this could be just what you're after.
We're on the lookout for caring, committed tutors in the Heywood (OL10) area to support pupils who are currently learning outside of school. These children might be out of mainstream education for all sorts of reasons - from medical needs to social, emotional or behavioural challenges - and they benefit massively from a calm, consistent tutor who can help them find their confidence again.
You'll be delivering tailored one-to-one sessions in English and/or Maths, depending on your strengths. Sessions take place either in the pupil's home or somewhere nearby, like a local library or community space.
* Planning and delivering personalised lessons suited to the pupil's learning level
* Teaching primary or lower secondary content (depending on need)
* Building strong, positive relationships with learners who may be feeling disengaged
* Supporting progress both academically and emotionally
* Working weekdays during school hours - you choose your availability
You don't have to be a qualified teacher - although that's welcome - but experience working with young people is essential. You could be a former teacher, TA, tutor, youth worker or someone with strong subject knowledge and the right approach.
We're especially keen to hear from people who:
* Have supported learners one-to-one or in small groups
* Can adjust their teaching style to suit individual needs
* Are confident with primary-level English and Maths
* Understand or have experience with SEN, anxiety, or other additional needs
* Want a more flexible, rewarding role with a real purpose
