Head of Finance
Location: Crewe, hybrid 2 days office, 3 days remote
Salary: c£85k + Benefits
Working Pattern: Full-time, 37.5hrs p/w
Duration: 14-16 months contract (salaried)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Finance to join a market-leading engineering and services business during a significant period of growth and transformation.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial leadership, commercial insight, and robust governance across the business. This role will play a critical part in shaping and delivering the company's long-term growth plans while ensuring strong financial control and performance.
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Finance:
Strategic Leadership
Partner with senior leadership to develop and deliver the medium and long-term growth strategy
Identify key financial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate action plans are in place
Support business development initiatives, transformation projects, and operational improvements
Provide financial insight and challenge to support strategic decision making
Financial Performance & Control
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities
Oversee the production of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
Deliver meaningful financial analysis and KPI reporting to support business performance
Ensure strong financial controls, governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks are maintained
Manage internal and external audit requirements
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team, building capability and succession plans
Work closely with executive leadership and wider group stakeholders
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and commercial awareness
Drive collaboration and best practice across finance and operational teams
To be successful in this role you will need to be:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Significant senior finance leadership experience within a commercial or operational environment
Strong background in financial planning, reporting, controls, and business partnering
Demonstrable experience supporting growth, transformation, and change initiatives
Commercially astute with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
