About The Role
Working Days: Monday to Friday 12.30pm to 6.30pm
As a ‘pick and pack’ Catering Assistant, you will ensure menus meet dietary needs, use picking sheets to gather the correct items and portion sizes, pack these into insulated food trolleys, and sign them off. The role involves physical effort, including long periods of picking and packing. You will also fill ovens from trolleys, cook meals following guidelines, return unused items to the freezer, and plate meals, ensuring accuracy and presentation. It’s a busy, active role that ensures patients receive the correct meals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure relevant menus considering dietary requirements are available and assessed.
2. Use picking sheets to select all items with correct portion sizes and pack into insulated trolleys, signing off as correctly packed.
3. Perform picking and packing, exerting moderate physical effort for extended periods.
4. Fill oven from the trolley, cook meals following guidance, and return unused items to the freezer.
5. Use the regen oven to cook meals, ensuring proper guidance is followed for quality products.
6. Plate meals, verifying accuracy against requests and ensuring proper presentation.
The Ideal Candidate
* Must have the Right to Work in the UK
* An active DBS check is required
* Excellent customer service skills
* Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided if not held)
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Health & Safety Training qualification
* Willing and able to work shifts (including nights, weekdays, weekends, Bank Holidays) on any of the Trust Sites
* Understanding of HACCP & COSHH
