Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and caring Clinical Vascular Scientist to join our team at Ashford and St Peters Hospital Foundation Trust. You will be performing all vascular ultrasound modalities including arterial duplex, venous reflux duplex, carotid duplex, EVAR, AAA surveillance and graft surveillance. Main Duties
* Provide a quality scanning and reporting service in all aspects of vascular ultrasound.
* Involve with service delivery and service improvement through audit and research.
* Maintain high clinical standards, particularly regarding patient care, clinical risk and Health and Safety.
* Liaise with other Health Care Professionals and departmental staff on a daily basis.
* Continue to develop one’s own knowledge, practice and development through CPD.
* Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control of the ultrasound equipment.
* Participate in the practical and theoretical training of student practitioners.
* Understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff according to the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy.

Clinical Responsibilities
To provide a high standard of ultrasound practice and evidence‑based service, adhering to CSVS Code of Professional Conduct, CSVS Guidelines and Trust policies. To demonstrate high standard of ultrasound skills, interpret diagnostic ultrasound information, issue independent reports, manage patient expectations, prepare patients and equipment, maintain effective communication with multidisciplinary team, support local and national waiting time initiatives, document examinations fully, sustain physical and emotional effort, use high‑specification technical equipment, and actively participate in clinical audit and evidence‑based protocols.
Management Responsibilities
Participate in standard setting, audit, evidence‑based protocols, time management, departmental workload prioritisation, equipment selection.
Education & Development
Maintain proactive CPD folder, develop knowledge, attend required training, participate in performance reviews, deliver lectures, train students, engage in research, provide external assessor duties, and contribute to departmental protocols and quality initiatives.
Qualifications
* BSc Biomedical Sciences (or equivalent).
* AVS (Accredited Vascular Scientist).
* Evidence of CPD.
* Current Membership to Professional Body.
Experience
Essential:
* Broad experience in vascular ultrasound scanning.
* Writing reports experience.
* Counselling skills, breaking bad news and referral to tertiary centres.
* Familiar with radiology IT systems.
* General administrative duties within ultrasound environment.
Desirable:
* Experience in quality control.
* Experience in departmental audit.
* Experience in departmental administrative duties.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential: NHS Constitution, Trust vision and values, anatomy knowledge, safe use of technical ultrasound equipment, communication, training, liaison, calm disposition.
Desirable: Post‑graduate specialist training, clinical research participation.
