Debt Recovery Assistant

We are looking for a Debt Recovery Assistant to be based in our head office in Leighton Buzzard. You will be responsible for maintaining debtor accounts and ensuring all overdue invoices are chased and paid on a timely basis, in line with company policy.

Main Activities

1. Chase overdue invoices by telephone, text, email & letter within agreed timescales
2. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all chasing activity
3. Ensure pre-legal correspondence issued
4. Maintain a positive working relationship with branches
5. Advise branches on procedure & process where and when appropriate
6. Communicate effectively with all levels and departments within the company
7. Support other members of the Debt Recovery team if required to ensure all daily Debt Recovery functions are carried out should staff be on holiday/sick leave
8. Answer internal/external queries in an effective and timely manner
9. Undertaking any other duties which may be requested by the Line Manager

Additional Activities

10. Issuing County Court Claims
11. Liaising with the Court and Court Mediators
12. Liaising with the relevant individuals in regards to disputed claims
13. Preparation of Witness Statements on behalf of the company
14. Communicating with Defendants
15. Preparing Court Orders when required
16. Liaising with Group Legal and Counsel
17. Follow up communication post Judgment
18. Forwarding cases to Enforcement
19. Post Enforcement liaison and updating systems

Skills Required

20. Tenacity and enthusiasm
21. Excellent communication skills at all levels
22. Good keyboard skills and competence of Word, Excel and Outlook
23. High standard of numeracy, accuracy with attention to detail
24. A team player with a flexible approach and a willingness to learn
25. Outgoing and confident personality who is able to operate at all levels
26. A self-starter who is pro-active and can set and achieve goals
27. Strong organisational & time management skills
28. Looking for continuous improvement of best practices in order to positively impact business results
29. Ability to recognise potential risks to the Company that should be escalated
