The Role As a consultant in the Frazer Nash Defence & Security business, you’ll work alongside technical specialists to contribute to projects that improve defence operations. Your role would require you to: Provide operational insight: Apply your specialist knowledge to defence-related projects, offering critical operational context, technical advice, and an end-user perspective to shape impactful solutions. Collaborate across disciplines: Integrate with our multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and analysts to develop and refine future defence technologies. Communicate with impact: Produce and review high-quality reports, technical documentation, and presentations to effectively communicate insights to clients and stakeholders. The Person We are seeking motivated and credible maritime warfare and weapons engineering professionals, driven by curiosity and a willingness to advance naval capabilities, who are able to demonstrate the following strengths: Operational and tactical acumen: Deep understanding of the maritime operational environment, with the ability to interpret and elucidate complex tactical and operational issues. Candidates will likely be former or transitioning Royal Navy Warfare and Weapons Engineering practitioners, able to evidence the following skills and experience: Naval Operations Applicants Professional warfare qualifications: Previous attainment of Surface, Submarine, or Aviation Warfare qualifications at the Principal or Advanced levels. Operational experience: Demonstrable recent, Maritime or Joint operational experience, including time served in an Ops Room environment. Weapons Engineering Applicants Operational experience: Demonstrable recent, Naval combat systems engineering and operational experience, including design change and management. Systems assurance experience: Understanding of assurance techniques and management systems of combat systems, including aspects associated with information exchange and data systems. Desirable (one or more of the following): Comprehensive understanding of UK and NATO maritime doctrine and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), with the ability to apply this knowledge in real-world contexts. Underwater warfare and associated systems is of particular interest. Demonstrated experience in maritime operations planning and execution at the unit level or within headquarters / staff environments. Background in delivering advanced warfare instruction, tactics development, or specialist training. In-depth understanding of maritime systems, defence systems integration, and the policy and doctrinal frameworks that underpin their employment. Experience supporting capability development, acquisition, or in-service management, contributing to the evolution and sustainment of operational capability. Experience working with or within key Defence organisations such as Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) or Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), with an understanding of their roles in capability delivery.
