Your new role
The SolidWorks Engineer is responsible for developing, standardising, and delivering high-quality 3D parametric and fabrication models for MEP prefabrication using SolidWorks. A core function of this role is ensuring seamless digital workflow integration and interoperability between SolidWorks models and BIM platforms (Revit/Navisworks). The role also involves technical support, mentoring BIM teams on SolidWorks prefabrication workflows, and continuous optimisation of design and manufacturing processes. This position requires strong expertise in SolidWorks design, a solid understanding of BIM/MEP construction practices, and a focus on fabrication efficiency.
• 3D parametric modelling
• Assembly and fabrication modelling for MEP prefabrication
• Drawing production for manufacturing and on-site installation
• Support the Lead Solidworks Engineer in establishing, documenting, and managing integration workflows between SolidWorks and BIM platforms (Revit/Navisworks/IFC exports), ensuring data integrity and fidelity.
• Support the Lead Solidworks Engineer in delivering technical support, mentoring, and upskilling to the BIM team as they transition into SolidWorks-based prefabrication workflows.
• Work closely with prefabrication teams to align SolidWorks modelling standards, templates, and libraries with project and fabrication requirements, focusing on optimising material yield and reducing fabrication costs.
• Develop and maintain SolidWorks templates, standard part libraries, and custom features for MEP systems and prefabricated assemblies. • Support project delivery by assisting in the development of detailed fabrication models when required.
• Provide feedback on optimising digital workflows and interoperability between SolidWorks and BIM environments.
• Stay up to date with the latest SolidWorks features and relevant industry technologies, integrating innovative practices into the business
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience as a SolidWorks Engineer or similar role in a construction, MEP, or prefabrication environment.
• Strong working knowledge of: o SolidWorks 3D modelling, assemblies, and the creation of detailed fabrication drawings (including BOMs and cut lists) o BIM processes and coordination platforms (Revit, Navisworks, IFC workflows)
• Excellentmunication, organisational, and documentation skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to digital workflow challenges.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
• Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
• Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or higher accreditation.
• Experience working with MEP prefabrication or modular construction
• Strong working knowledge of sheet metal, weldments, and piping modules
