We are seeking a conscientious and experienced Principal Ornithologist to perform specialised technical services relating to avian ecology across all office locations, as well as being a key role in the Atmos Ecology Team.
In this role you should expect to:
* Direct/manage a range of medium and large projects to deliver high-quality Environmental Impact Assessment and Habitat Regulations Appraisal services.
* Work closely with colleagues in shaping the Atmos service offering, building new ideas into useful client services.
* Build and shape stakeholder relationships with organisations such as NatureScot, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and RSPB.
* Maintain relationships with clients.
* In collaboration with our highly respected GIS team, build on our expertise and reputation in modelling techniques, including collision risk modelling, spatial modelling, displacement analysis and population viability analysis.
* Support the Technical Director in resource and business planning, mentoring and advising junior staff and deputise as appropriate.
Act as a 'go to' for technical advice, promoting best practice in ecological impact assessment and conservation, both internally and externally.
Qualifications
This is a key position in the team, and you will have a lead voice in the delivery of the ornithological services that Atmos provides.

* A degree in ecology or a related subject, or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience.
* Health and Safety awareness, especially safe working practices and risk assessment related to ecology fieldwork.
* IT skills including the use of MS Word and Excel.
* Full current driving licence.
