Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Composite Centre of Excellence (CoE) as an Industrialisation Engineer – based in Yeovil. The CoE specialises in the full product life cycle of rotor components such as rotor blades and hubs from production to repair and overhaul. The role supports the Capital Expenditure plan for CoE Blades and Rotor Components Yeovil, including the acquisition of machine tools, process plant and equipment, and shop floor reorganisations, with a focus on cost-effective solutions within budget.
Although a hybrid role, you will be mostly site based with occasional working from home. This is a JFF level 5 position for internal applicants.
Responsibilities
* Assist in developing the Capital Expenditure plan for the department, including inputs related to factory space and shop floor layouts, plant and equipment, manufacturing techniques, environmental aspects, and ergonomics.
* Assist in the Capital Expenditure Budget submission annually to discharge the plan.
* Create and submit investment business cases detailing technical tasks, costs, implementation plans, compliance, detailed drawings, technical specifications, cost savings, and economic evaluation.
* Create detailed plant and equipment specifications ensuring supplier delivery meets requirements and that Health and Safety regulatory requirements are captured.
* Coordinate project specification preparation with business and supplier discussions and evaluate/select new plant and processes with expert input as needed.
* Provide detailed budget costs for introducing new or replacement plant and processes, in consultation with the business and suppliers.
* Manage projects and coordinate the supply and introduction of new plant and equipment, reporting costs, implementation, and progress to plan.
* Prepare justification for new or replacement plant and processes for approval at all management levels, depending on project value.
* Research and evaluate new manufacturing techniques and processes, including advances in machines, equipment, storage, and material handling systems.
* Prepare and implement projects within Health & Safety guidelines and understand UK and European harmonised standards.
* Initiate and coordinate capital plant disposal procedures in conjunction with the Site Disposals coordinator.
* Regularly review projects through their life cycle to ensure adherence to the Project Management Process, managing resources, contractors, and risk for timely, safe delivery.
* Manage contractors when required, ensuring Risk and Method Statements and Permits to work are in place before on-site arrival.
* Assist Management in the departmental overhead budget submission and monitor spend against budgets.
* Lead or support business projects and improvement activities.
* Support the department as needed to maintain component deliveries.
What You’ll Bring
* A recognised engineering qualification in mechanical, production, or aeronautical discipline, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship with 5-7 years operational experience.
* Project planning and management skills with experience influencing cross-functional teams.
* Ability to drive projects to completion, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritise tasks effectively.
* Good knowledge of manufacturing operations within a composite manufacturing facility.
* Experience using CAD software for detail drawings and facility layouts.
* Financial awareness and budgetary control.
