Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – Therapeutic Hub, LBS
About the Role
Provide therapeutic support to children and young people within the LBS Social Care team, including those in children's homes, Youth Justice and Early Help services. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (SaLTs, psychotherapists, counsellors, specialist social workers) and report to a senior SaLT.
Key Responsibilities
* Direct and indirect work with children and young people
* Direct work with families, parents and carers
* Consultations with social workers and social care staff
* Assessment clinics for Youth Justice
* Complete informal and formal assessments
* Provide training, support and advice in children’s homes and other settings
* Participate in formulation meetings and case conferences
* Create and update communication passports and maintain case notes to RCSLT standards
* Provide clinical supervision to staff where required
Additional Duties
Work across LBS children’s homes and the Quad; collaborate with partner agencies for transitions; attend team meetings; comply with mandatory training and CPD; embed legislative and evidence‑based practice changes.
Qualifications & Experience
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Qualified paediatric speech and language therapist with registration with HCPC and RCSLT
* Experience working in a trauma‑informed context and/or SEMH
* Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
* Ability to prioritise and deliver results to high standards
* Commitment to safeguarding and protection of children

Contract and Compensation
Fixed term 12 months, 0.8 FTE (pro‑rata). Pay scheme Band 6: £44,660.21 to £53,046.29 per year, inclusive of HCAS. Working pattern: full‑time, flexible. Closing date: 30 June 2026
Location
Sutton and surrounding areas – Green Wrythe Lane, Carshalton, Surrey (SM5 1JW) and Railway Approach, Wallington, Surrey (SM6 0DZ).
