The Opportunity
Permanent Senior Bridge Engineer in Manchester. You will work in shared office space in Manchester, attend the office when necessary and work remotely on other days. Applications are welcome from Senior Structural/Bridge Engineers across the region.

Role
Responsibilities
* Lead a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions.
* Take ownership and lead projects from start to finish, from preparing quotations to handover.
* Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of delivering scheme outputs that satisfy quality, cost and programme criteria.
* Oversee the actions of junior staff and take responsibility for their deliverables.
* Contribute to the professional development of junior staff and act as a delegated engineer.
* Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
* Manage a small locally based single‑discipline technical team and be responsible for delivery of their workload.
* Contribute to bid preparation and the general work‑winning function.
* Drive effective health and safety practices within the team.
What You Will Bring To Us
* Developed experience and expertise within the Structures field, probably gained in an Engineer role or equivalent.
* Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions, complying with technical standards and client requirements.
* Ownership of the preparation and checking of deliverables to a reasonable standard.
* Very good working knowledge of relevant software and analysis tools such as LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
* Demonstrated commercial awareness.
* Good understanding of CDM and risk assessment.
* Substantial experience in managing and communicating hazards and risks on projects, ensuring appropriate risk mitigation and transference.
* Good understanding of interface management and ensuring own deliverables align with those produced by other disciplines.
* Incorporated or chartered status with the ICE or IstructE or an equivalent professional licence is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
