Chartered Building Surveyor

A well-established, Claims Management and loss adjusting business is looking to appoint a Chartered Building Surveyor into its growing Surveying Services division. With over 25 years in the market and a strong reputation for technical excellence across domestic and commercial claims, this is a chance to join a high-performing team handling complex and varied work.
You’ll play a key role in assessing property damage, producing detailed reports, and supporting the end-to-end claims process. This position offers a strong mix of technical surveying, stakeholder engagement, and project oversight.
The role
You’ll be responsible for carrying out site inspections, assessing damage, and producing accurate scopes and costings. You’ll work closely with adjusters, handlers, and policyholders to ensure claims are managed fairly and efficiently.
1. Conduct on-site surveys and inspections across domestic and commercial properties
2. Assess damage, analyse findings, and prepare repair scopes and cost estimates
3. Produce detailed reports, schedules of work, and tender documentation
4. Manage pre- and post-contract duties, including tender analysis
5. Investigate cause of damage and support liability considerations
6. Act as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations and Party Wall Surveyor where required
7. Support negotiations and validate contractor costs and third-party schedules
8. Provide technical guidance throughout the claims lifecycle
9. Maintain accurate records and support any legal proceedings if required
What they’re looking for
10. Experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally within insurance or loss adjusting
11. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and repair techniques
12. Experience across both residential and commercial property
13. Ability to interpret insurance policies and claims processes
14. Strong reporting skills with attention to detail
15. Comfortable managing multiple cases independently
16. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
17. MRICS, MCIOB or similar (or working towards – APC support considered)
18. Full UK driving licence
