Role Overview: As a Sports & Events Manager, you will play a lead role in developing and growing the events programme, aquatics programme and fitness programme. You will ensure that we deliver a high level service and lead on the promotion of our venues across the region. As part of your role you will ensure customer satisfaction, safety, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead responsibility for the identification, development and implementation of new initiatives for generating income streams across the business through the health and fitness programme, swim school, and events programme. Increase class participation and swim school attendance and ensure a minimum of 80% occupancy in both programs. Increase courts and sport participation and grow a program of sporting and non-sporting events to drive income. To regularly review the core programme and complete competitor analysis to maintain and review the WV Active offer. Monitor staff performances via class/lesson occupancy, customer feedback, interact KPI, and programmes. Lead responsibility for the programming of all health and fitness/swim school/school sports & events activities in conjunction with the General Manager and Sports & Events Support Manager to ensure optimum usage and income generation. To lead on event management, linking in with the city events team to attract regional and national events to WV Active facilities. Complete daily Duty Manager shifts, leading by example, supervising operational shifts and carrying out any other duties as required commensurate with the posts level of responsibility (including cover at other Centres). To manage the financial, human and material resources across their teams, taking into account service delivery requirements and strategic service objectives. To manage the budget for the health and fitness, swim school, events, & sports team to achieve agreed financial targets and take remedial action in relation to financial outturn variations if necessary. To ensure that all the necessary communication processes are in place to enable their teams to perform and maintain the highest standards possible. To manage the Sports & Events Support Manager, Fitness Instructors, Swimming Instructors in line with council procedures. Essential Qualifications and Experience: Degree level or equivalent qualification in relevant subject area / or relevant professional experience First Aid at Work Certificate Swim England Level 2 or equivalent STA equivalent. (or ability to achieve within 6 months from commencement of employment) Fitness level 2 or above qualification RLSS National Pool Lifeguard qualification Pool Plant Operators qualification Skills and Personal Qualities: Ability to communicate effectively with internal colleagues, senior managers, employees, community users Ability to identify and address individual development needs and manage performance of team members Ability to work to deadlines and contribute to relevant reports as directed Ability to contribute to the strategic planning of service delivery improvements Current Health & Safety Legislation Issues affecting the Leisure industry including income and usage streams HR, Audit, and Financial procedures & policies A strong leader with credibility and flair Excellent interpersonal and customer communication skills Methodical, thorough and organised approach Ability to treat personal information with discretion Develops good relationships with others by behaving with integrity, treating people with respect and leading by example Excellent organisational and time management skills Why Join Us?
