If you are good at thinking on your feet, understanding risk, have the knowledge to utilise distraction and diversion techniques and the ability to create a positive and safe environment for patients who require additional support during their stay in hospital, the Enhanced Care Support Worker role may be for you. The Enhanced Care Team are recruiting 17 Enhanced Care Support Workers who will provide an enhanced level of care to patients with behaviours that challenge or for those at high risk of absconding. Main duties You will support patient safety as planned and directed by the Enhanced Care Coordinator by providing enhanced care to patients assessed as requiring RED Enhanced Care due to a risk to themselves or others, and to those detained under the Mental Health Act. You will be responsible for delivering high standards of care and providing services in accordance with the Trust's values and behaviours to support the nursing team in the delivery of patient care which is safe and effective. This role is a fundamental part of the nursing team in providing care to patients/carers/relatives at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, including the safe delivery of a range of clinical competency skills. You will undertake a range of core clinical skills which include: Venepuncture Patient observations including Blood pressure, Oxygen saturations, heart rate, respirations, temperature, pain score, News score Peripheral Cannula removal Swabbing to include MRSA, FLU, COVID, Obtain samples including urine dip, from a catheter, MSU and faeces, sputum, Blood glucose and ketone testing ECG Observe wounds and change simple dressings Bladder scan Skin assessment Catheter removal Female catheter insertion Pregnancy testing Qualifications Essential person specification requirements You Must Have Level 2 in numeracy and literacy (or equivalent) Completed Care Certificate accredited by e-learning for healthcare evidence of both theory and all practical elements of the skills for health 15 standards (training completed via e-learning only will not be accepted) Plus One Of The Following Vocational Level 3 qualification in a Health related subject regulated by OFQUAL For existing Mid Yorkshire staff evidence of Band 2 competency booklet completed Any new employees who can evidence competency of core clinical skills, as outlined in this Job Description. Experience Experience of working in a Health and Social Care setting Good interpersonal and communication skills Good time management skills including ability to work to set deadlines. Ability to work flexibly, quickly, and accurately. Whilst it is on the Immigration Salary List for Skilled Worker visas, successful candidates seeking sponsorship must be eligible to be paid at the top of the pay band (£26,598) in order to meet the salary threshold set by the Home Office. To meet the criteria for payment at the top of the band, you must be able to demonstrate in your application (and throughout the recruitment process), a minimum of two years experience fulfilling the clinical skills undertaken by this role.
