From helping shape entire cities to adapting infrastructure to deal with the climate emergency, a career at Buro Happold presents the chance to make a difference. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Infrastructure team in our Leeds office for an 8‑week summer placement.
At Buro Happold we offer an integrated, multidisciplinary service across the whole project life cycle – from planning through to design and implementation. We take pride in working closely with clients, collaborators and stakeholders to deliver cost‑effective and sustainable outcomes.
What sort of projects do the Infrastructure team work on?
* Regeneration – e.g., redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, design of new tube stations.
* Public Realm Improvements – working with Landscape Architects on projects like Mayfield in Manchester.
* Stadiums and Arenas – involvement in projects such as Everton, Lord’s Cricket Ground and the Co‑op Arena in Manchester.
* Healthcare – master‑plan projects for Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, research for a prototype Hospital of the Future, and work with Guys & St Thomas Trust in London and other trusts.

* You are currently studying towards a Civil Engineering degree.
* You have a passion and enthusiasm for engineering design, sustainability and making a meaningful contribution to society.

This is a paid role for current university students for an 8‑week placement during Summer 2026. Exact dates can be flexible depending on candidate and team availability. The annual salary for this placement will be in line with the UK Real Living Wage.
