Working exclusively with purpose‑driven clients from local community groups to international NGOs, the team combines deep sector expertise with a collaborative, practical approach and a strong reputation for excellence.

About the Role

The role requires a commercial contracts lawyer advising primarily charities and social businesses and enterprises on a wide range of commercial and contractual matters. From time to time the role will also involve advising clients of our private client, property and pensions teams.

The role would be well suited to a commercial lawyer currently working with private and/or public sector clients, who is looking to transition their career to working in a more purpose‑driven sector.

Key Competences:

* A good grounding in commercial contracts law and a track record of handling a varied and challenging caseload is essential.
* Experience of drafting, reviewing, reporting on and negotiating general commercial contracts of all shapes, sizes and complexities is essential. Including:
o Services support contracts;
o Goods sales and purchases contracts;
o SLAs;
o Standard terms and conditions;
o Memorandum of understanding;
o Collaboration/joint working/partnership agreements;
o Intra-group and resource sharing agreements;
o Consultancy agreements;
o Non‑disclosure/confidentiality agreements.

Knowledge of the following is not essential, but would be advantageous:

* Experience of working with charities and other not‑for‑profit vehicles such as CLGs, CIOs, CICs, co‑operatives and CBSs.
* Commercial or public sector procurement and subsidy control (formerly state aid) experience, and experience of working with the public sector/local government would be advantageous.
* A general awareness of information governance, data protection and intellectual property law is desirable.

This role would suit a solicitor with a minimum of 5 years PQE, but the workload can be tailored to the level of experience dependent on the successful candidate.
