Elac Study Vacations is an independent schoolwith 8 UK centres and has been operating for over 30 years. Elacruns various programmes teaching English language and culture tointernational students aged between 917 years old.
Our centres are all based in the United Kingdomat Haywards Heath Bath Horsham Eastbourne Nottingham CirencesterBerkhamsted and run for 46 weeks from the beginning ofJuly.
We are looking for applicants who arecommitted and have a genuine interest in teaching young learners.Previous summer school experience is welcome although notessential. It is a great environment for newly qualified teachersas there is a lot of support and many opportunities fordevelopment; a wonderful way to launch your TEFLcareer!
Tasks
Teachers arecontracted to work 27 contact teaching and/or testing andorientation hours each week though contracted hours will notnecessarily be used equally throughout your contract.
Most lessons are preprepared and have beencarefully developed to help students develop their language and21st Century skills. There is however some opportunity for teachersto use their own lesson plans allowing you to be creative but nothaving to plan every lesson. Lessons can be repeated daily whichcuts down on planning time considerably.
One ofour centres (Cirencester) also caters for 710 years old. If youhave any experience with this age group or of teaching Englishthrough performance please mention this in your application.
Residential Teachers will also complete 1educational excursion per week (10 hours) to help offset the costof accommodation they but WILL NOT have any pastoral duties i.e. nonighttime duties or wake upcalls.
Requirements

TEFLicertificate for example CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL: a certificateexternally validated and with at least 100 hour of input and atleast 6 hours supervised teaching practice with real studentsor
PGCE English/Modern Languages with ELT/TESOLsubsidiary and EFL teaching experience or
UniversityCertificate in ELT/TESOL course subsidiary and EFL teachingexperience *Applicants without a degree but who hold a relevant EFLteaching qualification and experience may be considered. NB: Our centres use Smart TVs or electronic whiteboardsand the prepprepared lessons are via Powerpoint so familiarity withthese technologies would beuseful.
Benefits
Teacherbasic salaries from 485 to 525 per week.
Teachertotal weekly pay from 465.17 to 588.37 per week if no holidaytaken: Holiday pay in lieu of any untaken holiday (12.07% of totalgross salary) will be added at the end of the contract.)
Residential staff have board and accommodationincluded though a weekly accommodation supplement will be deducted.
There are no additional pastoral dutiesinvolved.

CONTRACTS
Contracts are for 4 weeks with the possibilityof an additional 2 weeks. Shorter contracts may also be availableplease ask. Staff training takes place 1 or 2 days before theCentre start date.
Safer Recruitment
1) Elac Study Vacations will carry out and payfor DBS Enhanced Disclosure checks (or Disclosure Scotland checks)with Barred List in accordance with the Children Act 1989. A checkon the Prohibited List will be undertaken for candidates whopreviously worked in schools in the UK. Elac Study Vacationsrequest you sign up to the DBS Update Service within 2 weeks ofreceiving the DBS Check.
2) Elac Study Vacationsrequires all nonUK nationals and UK Nationals currently workingabroad to provide a Police Check from the current country they areresident in and ideally from any other countries you have workedpreviously.
3)Employment is conditional onreceipt of original certificates of any qualifications stated inapplication and of at least two satisfactory proof of identitydocuments (passport driving licence birth certificate bankstatements & utility bills) as well as the original copyof the DBS and Police check (if applicable).
4)This contract is subject to satisfactoryreference checks.
