Finance Accounts Assistant - 12-Month FTC
Saffron Walden (2 days per week in the office)

Robert Half are delighted to be partnering with a respected organisation in Saffron Walden to recruit an Accounts Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid Excel skills (pivot tables & VLOOKUPs essential) who enjoys a varied role across treasury, purchase ledger and financial reporting.
The Role
As Accounts Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting the Assistant Financial Controller and wider Finance Team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and smooth day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include:
1. Managing daily treasury operations, including updating banking systems and ensuring authorised payments and inter-account transfers are completed
2. Performing daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash book records (including Imagepay)
3. Providing back-office treasury support: confirming transactions, maintaining Whistlebrook records, preparing daily swap checkers and monitoring templates
4. Producing the monthly Back Office Treasury Compliance Report for ALCO
5. Supporting branch administration, including cheque management and banking stationery orders
6. Administering the Purchase Ledger, resolving queries, and completing payment runs
7. Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and appropriate documentation
8. Contributing to audit readiness and maintaining strong financial controls
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
9. Confident using Excel, especially pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
10. Detail-oriented, organised and able to work to deadlines
11. Experienced within finance operations, treasury, bank reconciliation or purchase ledger (desirable)
12. A strong communicator who enjoys supporting multiple stakeholders
13. Able to attend the Saffron Walden office twice a week
