Locum Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
We are seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to provide flexible cover to the department for a fixed term of 12 months.
You will need to possess membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology or a qualification of equivalent standard. The job plan comprises 10 programmed activities, of which 9 are DCC across Gynaecology & Obstetrics.
Women’s Services Directorate is part of the Women’s and Children’s Division of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. The Directorate includes Maternity, Gynaecology and Neonatal services.
Operating lists take place on Ealing and Northwick Park sites; most Gynaecology operating lists are at Ealing. Clinics occur on all three sites. There is a Gynaecology Direct Referral Unit based on the surgical floor at Northwick Park to allow emergency referrals from GP’s to be assessed and treated within a dedicated gynaecology environment. Ealing hospital runs an EPU.
The post holder will be a key member of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team. Key responsibilities include:
* Provide General Gynaecology work in the Gynaecology direct referral unit as required.
* Work in a high-risk labour ward covering clinics and theatres. The unit delivers up to 4,700 babies per annum and includes a high-risk obstetric-led delivery suite, a Midwifery Led Birth Centre, ANC, Day Assessment Unit, Fetal Medicine Unit, ante/postnatal wards. Consultant hours on labour ward are 96 per week. Night rota arrangements apply for non-resident consultants, with a hot week on labour ward when elective activity is cancelled and 8am-8pm on labour ward 3 or 4 days every 9 weeks.
