The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise) invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified members of academic staff from Lancaster University for the post of Cross-Faculty Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies (university wide).
Reporting directly to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise), the post holder will be responsible for leading and implementing postgraduate research (PGR) student strategy, and for the oversight and governance of processes relating to PGR at Lancaster University.
The successful applicant will be expected to develop a new and revised delivery plan for PGR at LU - including the revision of governance and review procedures - to ensure a consistent, high quality, attractive experience for PGR students across the University. This will include considering a greater diversity of schemes and collaborations involving our international partnerships.
The Cross-Faculty AD will work closely with Faculty PGR Directors and key PS staff. Further key relationships include the University Academic Dean, Associate Deans for Research, Research & Enterprise Services, Research Institute Directors and Departmental Research Directors, as well as, externally, with Research England and N8.
In addition to PGR supervisory experience, candidates must have an in-depth understanding and vision to ensure that Lancaster's PGR student experience remains of the highest quality, and the initiative to drive the implementation of the policies and procedures necessary to sustain this into the future.
This post is part-time 0.4 FTE, tenable from October 2025 for an initial period of 2 years, with potential to extend to 3 years.
