The job itself
Do you enjoy working with people and making a positive difference in your community? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
The Mobile Library Service is seeking a proactive, friendly, and outgoing team member to support the delivery of our valued service. While this role is primarily based at our Melton offices, there may be occasions when you accompany a Mobile Library out on site to cover staff absences or take part in outreach events.
We’re looking for someone with a warm, personable manner, a can-do attitude, and strong organisational skills. You’ll deliver excellent customer care, show genuine enthusiasm for working with people of all ages, and be a supportive team player who’s always willing to help where needed.
You’ll also need to be confident using your initiative and managing your workload effectively, maintaining high standards even when working under pressure.
Regular tasks include:
* Responding to customer enquiries via telephone and email
Using IT systems, including the Microsoft Office suite and bespoke software.
* Managing deliveries of goods and services, including stationery and stock control.
* Processing library stock through the online Library Management System.
* Shelving, maintaining, and organising library stock, along with general day‑to‑day administrative duties.
This role can be physically demanding. You’ll assist colleagues by moving library stock to and from shelves, restocking the warehouse area, and loading and unloading crates of library materials. Stock work is a key responsibility of this position.
If you’re passionate about supporting your local community and want to contribute to a valued public service, we’d love to hear from you.
