Join to apply for the EDIA Project Officer role at The University of Manchester
The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint two Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility (EDIA) Project Officers to support the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences in fostering a consciously inclusive and diverse working environment. This role provides proactive operational support for EDIA initiatives, ensuring tangible progress in alignment with the School, Faculty, and University’s strategic goals.
These roles will support the delivery of key targets we hold for our localised Athena Swan submissions and our commitment to the University’s Race Equality Charter. While a primary focus will be on engaging and supporting staff in their development of understanding and engaging with EDIA, these roles will also support work in ensuring diverse students have access to and success on our degree programmes.
Your day-to-day will be working alongside the EDIA Managers in both Schools. You will collaborate with our wider EDIA teams of both Academic and Professional Service colleagues, in-School and at Faculty level, to drive meaningful change in EDIA. This may involve organising events, attending strategic meetings, or moving into advisory roles on EDIA best practice. Understanding the impact of these interventions and communicating this out will also be a key responsibility.
We’re looking for individuals with;
* A well developed, intersectional understanding of EDIA, especially within an HE context.
* The ability and knowledge to collaborate across projects for racial equity, gender equality, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and disability accessibility.
* Experience in engaging diverse stakeholders and hold space for diverse views with an inclusive and curious approach.
* The ability to analyse trends in data and report on what these might mean.
When applying for this role, please ensure you list and expressly evidence how you meet each criteria listed in the Person Specification. More guidance on how you might do this can be found here.
Timeline:
* Applications close Tuesday 20th May 11.59pm
* Shortlisting aims to be completed by Thursday 22nd May
* Interview invites aim to be sent by Thursday 22nd May
* Interviews will be held on Thursday 29th May and Friday 30th May
If you are successful in receiving an interview, we will send questions in advance to all candidates to allow you time to consider your responses to these. These will be sent 2 days in advance.
