An exciting development opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Band 7 registered nurse for Ophthalmology services at ELHT.
We require a committed, motivated, driven individual to work across our ophthalmology services as a team manager. You will be required to show flexibility in your approach to the role and have excellent time management, informational technology and communication skills.

Main duties of the job
Duties Include; You will provide, promote and ensure the delivery of safe, personal and effective care in line with the trusts visions and values across our services departments.
You will work alongside our other band 7s to promote strong leadership and visibility for the nursing work forces and allied health professionals.
Maintain and monitor patient safety within the service through clinical audit, management of safety incidents, and identification of risks.
Support training programs, assess competence of junior staff in the service, promoting professional development of the team and self.
Participate/ lead in service improvements and represent the service at relevant meetings.
You will represent senior management at service and trust key meetings alongside or in the absence of the service matron.

We provide a wide range of services within our outpatients, emergency / general triage, urgent eye, nurse lead Intravitreal injection clinics and surgical day case for east Lancashire Health trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To deliver SAFE, PERSONAL and EFFECTIVE patient care.
You will be responsible alongside our other team manager for effective and efficient operational management and service delivery processes for our Ophthalmology services – outpatients, day case, urgent eye clinic and triage services. You will line manage, support and develop the nursing / allied health care workforces.
You will work as a key decision maker alongside the specialist multi professional teams, lead on aspects of
clinical care, focusing on patient safety, experience and quality assurance frameworks.
With the support of the Matron you will analyse, monitor and implemented actions that ensure the
service delivery is safe and effective in line with the Trust values and national guidance.
You will support the ophthalmology services as required and where your skills allow, inclusive of the emergency triaging service, urgent eye clinic, the day case surgery unit and ophthalmology outpatients.

Essential criteria
* 1 st level registered general nurse as verified NMC. Diploma/ degree in Higher Education
* Extensive experience within Ophthalmology at band 6 level
* Ophthalmology foundation development qualifications
* Degree level /or prepared to work towards a degree, or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of leadership qualifications. ENB 998 teaching qualification or equivalent
* Evidence of on-going continuous professional development in preparation for career progression
* Able to demonstrate effective consolidation of nursing/therapy knowledge and practice
* Experience of leading a team, at a senior level
* Evidence managing conduct, sickness absence performance, recruitment & selection
* Experience of managing risks and incident reporting
* Evidence of managing difficult situations, ability to persuade, influence and handle conflict
* Evidence of service development Projects and ability to initiate and implement change
* Knowledge of, and participation in, financial management within the clinical setting
* Demonstrate ability to use audit, improve quality of services and participate in clinical governance
* Demonstrate ability to apply research - based practice and advocate it to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery
* Proven ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues and consolidate group dynamics in the health care setting
* Adaptable to changing needs of the service and willing to work in other areas of the trust as required
* Experience of preparing investigation papers/ Rapid reviews, RCAs
* Have Information technology skills /computer and keyboard.
